A very very rain season

The rainy season started off slow but by the end of December it certainly picked up momentum, with clouds and rain coming down non-stop until the end of March. As a result of the heavy rains and constant cloud cover, the delta has been saturated causing flooding that people in the area say they have never seen before. And of course with this amount of flooding we can expect some interesting effects - namely roads and campsites going underwater.
The Khwai Development Trust has tried to be proactive to prevent the potential impending panic with the upcoming tourist season by relocating campsites and cutting new roads to access. If you go to our maps section, you will see the new campsite locations (with GPS locations) and some of the new roads in the campsite area.
As the actual flood waters come down from Angola (sometime between May and June), we will be monitoring the water levels and adjusting the campsites and/or road networks as necessary. We will update everyone via this blog to let everyone know how the flood situation is evolving.
Even with all the water, the wildlife is still fantastic and the floods make the area even more interesting. Come on up and have a look - you may never see floods like this again.
